This seed was planted one year ago this weekend. I was set up, selling my work at Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC, when a fan asked me to draw him a commissioned piece of art. Dealers choice, was the subject. Whatever I wanted. What to do? I was talking with fellow cartoonist, Jake Smith, about it. Just thinking out loud, really. Jake said something about how crazy it was to ask for something like that. He said, “You never know what you’ll get. They could draw a Three-Headed-Pig-Man.”. So me, being me, that’s exactly what they got. After I drew it, the commissioner loved it by the way, the character stuck in my mind. A cartoon head, a regular pig and a demonic warthog skull attached to the body of a 90’s superhero? The possibilities for stories to tell were endless. So I sat down and wrote a 68 page script for the first issue. Now, I share with you the first six pages of one of the most bizarre, hard left and right turning, stories I’ve ever read, let alone written. This is gonna be a wild ride and I’m not just talking about on a cosmic toboggan. If you want to read the rest of the story, I will be serializing it on my PATREON at a clip of about a page a week. This is your one-stop-shop for all things CHRIS ANDERSON. I’ll talk about that below, but first enjoy the introductory chapter of this insane epic and then please consider signing up and taking the ride. (Logo by Sam J. Royale)
Want to read more? follow me on my PATREON where I’ll be releasing a page or more a week. $1/month gets you a panel at a time so you can read the story as it unfolds. $3/ will get you physical sketchbooks mailed to you as well as full pages and art process for THPM along with early video posts and peeks at other work I produce. $5/ will get you all of that plus mini comics I produce throughout the year mailed to you. $8/ gets you all of that plus an original art commission done annually at what ends up being less expensive than if you just ordered one at any given time. I really try and make this worth your single cup of coffee money. It also acts as a community of sorts and since social media is stealing everyone’s art, It’s the best place to see my work. So come and join, support my work, and get a bang for your buck.
YouTube
My channel is growing! Not only am I going in depth with other cartoonists about their work and process and discussing books that inspired their careers, but my friend John Coats and I have started the Chris Claremont X-Men Comic Club. We will be going one by one through the master’s entire 17 year run as writer of the franchise. I’ve never read it, John has it in his blood, I analyze the art, John points out the writing. It’s been a fascinating exercise and made for some great episodes. The title cards are also drawn by me and for sale on my website. Click on a video and give a like, follow and subscribe to the channel.
What else?
I’m working on two other comics right now that I can’t talk about. One is almost done, the other will be announced and is tied to a band of note from the late 80s/early 90s. So keep an Eye out for those. I also just got in to the Art Directors Guild as a Sr. Illustrator, which allows me to work on more movies and tv shows. So I’m looking forward to growing that aspect of my business. Don’t forget that I have books and original art for sale on my website. I only have oee convention planned ths year and that’s CXC in Columbus, OH in late September. So if you’re in the area or going to the show, please say hello.
That’s about it for now. Please consider getting on that PATREON as It’s really where I’m focusing my energy and it would be so much better if you were there to see it. Also follow that Youtube channel as I’m really excited about how that is going and I would love for you to see it.
Till next time.
